child to reach their potential and to suceed.

Through   regularly   observing   children   we   gain   a   unique   insight   into their    world,    and    can    form    accurate    individual    assessment,    to    use as the cornerstone for supporting development. Observations   allow   us   to   give   every   child   personalised   half-termly ‘next   steps’.   These   ‘next   steps’   clearly   set   out   how   we   will   support continuous progression. Each   child’s   individual   ‘learning   journey’   is   kept   up   to   date   by   their key   person,   containing   written   observations   and   photos,   they   are   a powerful tool for supporting development.

Key Person Approach.

Every child who attends St Barnabas will have a dedicated key person, this key person will remain in place throughout their time at preschool. The role of the key person is to ensure each child has a strong sense of security and belonging, benefits from individualised learning and reaches their full potential across all areas of development. Our experience and highly qualified key person team will form supportive and nurturing relationship with each child and their family. These relationships mean that children are supported to learn, make friend and flourish throughout their pre-school journey.

We     have     a     qualified     SEND team              who              will              work alongside    families    to    create a    safe,    enabling    and    happy preschool      environment      for children           with           additional needs or SEND. Children           with           additional needs      or      SEND      will      have regular      Individual      Learning Plans   put   in   place   to   ensure they      are      making      progress and                being                supported effectively.
